For many people who identify as a part of LGBTQ2S+ communities this makes a trip to the salon/barber shop something they dread and avoid. They are afraid that they will encounter harassment or subtle disdain as they request a haircut that doesn’t “match” society’s perception of their gender.
A haircut is never just a haircut. It is a critical part of how we express ourselves and often the first step in someone looking in the mirror and seeing the person they are on the inside.
